Snack Pack Ministry
The Snack Pack Ministry provides bags of food to school children in need, helping ensure they have snacks and simple meals over weekends and holidays during the school year. Many students rely on free and reduced‑price school meals for most of their nutrition, and Snack Packs help fill the gap when school is not in session.
Zion Lutheran Church, in partnership with St. David’s Lutheran Church, provides Snack Packs to Oak Grove Elementary School in Lexington, South Carolina. We currently deliver approximately 120 bags each week during the school year.
How can I Help
- Donate food item (see list below)
- Provide monetary donations (note “Snack Packs” on your check to Zion Lutheran Church)
- Help pack and deliver bags
This school year, Zion will provide weekly bags during the months of September, November, January, March, and May. Bags are delivered each Friday morning unless the school schedule requires a different date.
We typically pack a full month of Snack Packs on the last Sunday of the month prior to our scheduled delivery month. Packing takes place in the Snack Pack Room (Room 103 in the main church building).
We can always use more help! Packing doesn’t take long, and it’s a fun way to give back while spending time with fellow church members. If you are interested in participating in any way, please email Amanda Farwick for more information.
